Everyone needs the "EMERGENCY FUND"
This has been proven over and over to my little family of my husband and my daughter of 4 years that the given fact is, not matter how covered you are, you should have more than 6 months in emergency funds. Not only that...if you are single and married singles (married with no children), cut corners where you can and dump it into something like an AFLAC or both a disability and an unemployment insurance. A lot of people seem to pay for the disability part but not the unemployment part and when you get to the unemployment part by part because you quit your job or your job did not provide insurance then you are corkscrewed out of luck.
Take it from me, diagnosed with leukemia, a child, and a husband who has been working in the industrial construction and has to pay union dues, insurance dues, and when it rains you don't get paid.
I have been fortunate that my head start was my mom and dad's L-98 whole life plan that they started for me when I was but a child. I still have it and it aaccummulated interest and in a few years I will be able to bank on a percentage of it.
Back to the emergency fund. When in doubt, save. If you think you can't afford it, you can't. In this economy, there is no contest between living and dying.
